Cleat, Barra
A first summer ***Bonaparte's Gull*** was seen briefly there this morning. (See @Bruce post below). It was later found at Traigh Mhor in front of the airport in the evening

Rubha Ardvule, South Uist
Counting period: 06:10-09:15
Weather: Wind SSW f 5-6. 8/8 cloud, dull and murky at sea with light rain. Temp 13c

A 3 hour seawatch this morning produced 3 Red-throated Divers (2S 1N), 12 Storm Petrels (S), 4 Fulmars (S), 28 Manx Shearwaters (S), 40 Gannets (35S 5N), 8 Kittiwakes (4S 4N), 1 Black-headed Gull (S), 1 Arctic Skua (N), 6 Guillemots (S), 10 Razorbills (S), 18 Puffin (S) and 22 auk sp (S).
Also present in the area were Cormorant 8, Turnstone 3, Sanderling 8, Redshank 19, Black-headed Gull 3, Arctic Tern +, Rock Dove 12, Sand Martin 8 and Starling 23
 
A couple of photos of the 1st summer Bonaparte's Gull that was on the beach at Cleat for a few minutes during this mornings high tide before flying off north-east along the coast.
