• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. In addition to the Red-breasted Flycatcher, there were also at least 4 Yellow-browed Warblers on Barra today plus around 20 Bramblings (most moving south in the morning), a Fieldfare and Grey Wagtail at Brevig, 6 Chiffchaffs and 5+ Blackcaps at Creachan and 10 Pink-footed Geese at Allasdale. The usual Iceland Gull was still at Craigston and 8 Pale-bellied Brent Geese were at Traigh Mhor.

News from Andrew:-
Caught up with the 3 white-rumped sandpipers at Ardivachar, one retains a lot more juv plumage than the others and is clearly a different bird to any of the 3 I saw on the 12th.

Still 1 brambling in my garden.
