How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! On a pleasant spring morning there were at least 4 Iceland Gulls (one adult) in the Rubh' Arnal area and a similar number of Glaucous Gulls (also one adult). The mostly white Common Gull was also on the beach along with just a single (1st-winter) pale-breasted Brent Goose. A few Ringed Plovers were setting up territories and other signs of spring on North Uist recently include the arrival of a small number of Black-headed Gulls.
