On Barra today a total of c160 black-tailed godwits in 2 flocks flew north past Borve during the morning. At least 3 whitethroats were at Glen, a blackcap was at Creachen and several chiffchaffs were around the island.

After last evenings unsatisfactory sighting of a Pectoral Sandpiper I decided to check the area again this morning. Just before 10 I had not got very far onto the saltings at Traigh Eachkamish when I heard one calling and three birds together quickly disappeared from sight towards Teanamachar. An hour later after a great deal of walking and scouring the area I was back on Eachkamish when once again one came over calling and went away to the S. After a fruitless search of some of this area I returned to the saltings and at last got some good views and photos of one. Three birds had flown in but I only got good views of two. I returned with Mary in the afternoon and one bird flew in after we had been there for some while. Bob McMillan over from Skye then arrived and at last we obtained some very good views of one. On the initial sighting today one was larger so possibly a ♂ and two ♀'s.
