  • At a time when travel is being actively discouraged, we will not be posting any sightings that may inspire individuals to do so. We will endeavour to continue to report routine sightings that may be of interest, but not of scarce or rare birds. We thank you for your understanding and of course visiting birders will be most welcome once this crisis is over. Please be safe and sensible and follow government advice and not put our community at risk.

The Twite flock on Frobost numbered over 100 for the first time this winter but I could not find any Linnet amongst them and juvenile Glaucous Gull flew south along the beach. 42 Whooper Swans and a pair of Pintail were on the flooded areas on Bornish machair as well as another juvenile Glaucous Gull

A short seawatch at Brevig, Barra this afternoon produced a Little Auk that flew in from the north and settled in the entrance to the bay. Both Tree Sparrows are still on my feeders and a Jack Snipe was nearby, the Ring-necked Duck is still on Loch Tangasdale and 21 Pale-bellied Brents were at Traigh Mhor.
