• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. Always Birding
The fields at Boisdale, South Uist had drained by this morning but there were still 33 Black-tailed Godwits and 16 Curlew to be found. Here at Askernish, 26 Curlew and the 46 Black-tailed Godwits were on Loch Hallan, while at Bornish there were 3 Black-tailed Godwits and 45 Snipe in the fields there. 2 Whimbrel were at Ardvule.

I also found another one of my colour ringed House Sparrows at North Smerclete. J32 is an adult male and is the first adult bird to be seen in 2 locations.
