How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! On Barra, a group of 7 whooper swans arrived from the south-west and settled on the beach at Scurrival this morning. At least 5 Iceland gulls were around Ardveenish and another was still by the Vatersay causeway along with the 2nd winter kumlien's gull. I was surprised to find a pair of long-tailed ducks on a tiny pool out on the machair at Vatersay this afternoon.
