I took advantage of the calm, flat conditions this morning and scanned the sea off the east side of Vatersay. 13 Black-throated Divers were visible along with c250 Eiders and a single Long-tailed Duck. The highlight though was a 1st winter drake Velvet Scoter settled out in the middle of Castle Bay. Despite being distant, I did get some good scope views, however I'd be the first to admit that the photo probably wont win any awards!

The Pale-bellied Brent Goose flock at Traigh Mhor is gradually increasing in number: 53 were present today. Yesterday there were 31 Snow Buntings at Eoligarry and a further 5 flying around over Borve Point.
