• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. Good numbers of migrants on Barra again today. In addition to the Blyth's Reed Warbler there was a minimum of 3 Yellow-browed Warblers on the island (2 of which were probably new in), a Common Redstart at Creachan, Wood Warbler at Castlebay, Grey Wagtail at Scallary and 5+ Pied Flycatchers including 3 at Creachan, 20+ Blackcaps, I Garden Warbler, 3+ Willow Warblers plus the usual Iceland Gull!

In addition to the Rose-coloured Starling at Carinish there was also a juvenile Cuckoo present (probably has been around for several days-per Alastair Banks).

At Aird an Runair, North Uist a 1CY Yellow Wagtail was on the rocks/beach, also a small number of Lapland Buntings (most together at any one time was six).
