• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. 2 adult and 3 juvenile Iceland gulls and a juvenile glaucous gull were at Ardveenish this afternoon. An adult Iceland gull was around Castlebay. My first great skua of the year was off Eoligarry in blustery conditions.

A Great Skua also flew N off Aird an Runair, North Uist in just over an hours seawatch this afternnon. Not much else was moving past and the Green-winged Teal was seen again on Loch a' Roe. It would appear that there are two different on North Uist as David Henshilwood saw one on Loch Sandary this afternoon.
Single Lesser Black-backed Gulls were at three places.
