Outer Hebrides / Western Isles bird sightings for today, 28th October 2018. Updated throughout the day

Ormaclate, South Uist
The *Cattle Egret* was there again today

Ardabroc, Isle of Lewis
A Great Tit was seen there this afternoon

Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
9 Waxwings and a Great Tit were seen in Marybank.

North Locheynort, South Uist
2 Bramblings, 4 Blackcaps, 3 Chiffchaff and a Woodcock were there today

Aird-mhicheil, South Uist
3 Waxwings were seen near there today

Bornish, South Uist
10 Black-tailed Godwits were on the machair

South Glendale, South Uist
A female Blackcap and 2 Bramblings were in a garden there

News from Tristan in Lewis

Spent the day in the southeastern part of Lewis. Not many migrants in evidence.
Hen Harrier 2 (M at head of Loch Seaforth, RT at Gravir)
Sparrowhawk 1, Gravir
Coal Tit 2 (1 at Gravir, 1 at Kershader)
Blue Tit 2, Gravir
Brambling 2, Gravir
Reed Bunting 1, Gravir
Redwing 38 (total for the day)

News from Tony Marr at Ness

The Butt (am)
Sea Eagle – 2 imms
Merlin – 2 together
Hen Harrier – a ringtail
Black-tailed Godwit – one
Great Northern Diver – 3 passed the lighthouse NW-SE
Red-throated Diver – one ditto
Snow Bunting – 7 along cliffs 3/4 mile SW of lighthouse (am); at (14.00) a flock of c50 came in off the sea by the lighthouse and headed on S down the island
Common Dolphin – 20+ off the cliffs SW of the lighthouse (am)
