Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 5th November 2020. Updated throughout the day

Langass Lodge, North Uist
A Chiffchaff and a Brambling were seen there today

Carinish, North Uist
A Jack Snipe was seen there this morning

Ardivachar, South Uist
Circa 70 Purple Sandpiper were seen there today

Rubha Ardvule, South Uist
Counting period: 07:30-09:55
Weather: Wind SW f4, mostly bright and sunny. Temp 11C

A 2+ hour seawatch this morning produced 4 Eider (2S 2N), 1 Red-throated Divers (S), 4 Great Northern Divers (3S 1N), 3 Cormorants (S), 14 Shag (4S 10N), 3 Kittiwakes (S), 4 Black-headed Gulls (S), 2 auk sp (S), 9 Skylark (flew West straight out to sea) and 6 Meadow Pipits (flew West straight out to sea)
Also present in the area were Greylag Goose 21, Gadwall 1, Wigeon 32, Mallard 103, Teal 3, Tufted Duck 38, Long-tailed Duck 1, Red-throated Diver 1, Purple Sandpiper 1, Black-headed Gull 1, Glaucous Gull [juvenile] 1, Hooded Crow 2, Rock Pipit 2 and Twite 585

Barra.
There was clearly a small arrival of new migrants overnight. Barra's first Dusky Warbler was at Glen, but was very elusive on the whole. Also a Common Chiffchaff and a Brambling there. At Castlebay there were 5 Siberian Chiffchaffs together by the football pitch plus 2 Lesser Whitethroats and the long-staying Treecreeper. 3 Fieldfares, a Yellow-browed Warbler and a Grey Wagtail were at Creachan and another Yellow-brow and a Blackcap were at Northbay.
