An immature Glaucous Gull was seen on the beach feeding on a whale carcus, 0.5 miles north of the Howmore River mouth
Bolnabodach, Isle of Barra
A Short-eared Owl was seen there this evening

Counting period: 06:55 - 09:40
Weather: Wind SSW F3-4, 8/8 cloud, temp 13.5C.
A near 4 hour seawatch this morning produced 5 Red-breasted Mergansers (S), 4 Red-throated Divers (S), 1 Great Northern Diver (S), 10 Fulmars (9S 1N), 30 Manx Shearwaters (S), 317 Gannets (315S 2N), 11 Shag (2S 9N), 1 Cormorant (S), 6 Sanderling (S), 1 Purple Sandpiper (S), 1 Kittiwake (S), 2 Great Skuas (1S 1N), 2 Guillemots (S), 4 Razorbills (S), 3 Black Guillemots (S), 2 auk sp (S) and 38 Meadow Pipits (S - half arriving off the sea).
Also present in the area were Greylag Goose 24, Mute Swan 1, Hen Harrier 1, Common Buzzard 1, Bar-tailed Godwit 1, Snipe 1, Great Black-backed Gull 16 [feeding on dead Cuvier's Whale], Pied Wagtail 2, Rock Pipit 1
