John's observations at Rubha Ardvule this morning (taken from Trektellen).

Counting period: 07:30 - 10:05.
Weather: Wind ENE f3-4, 7/8 high cloud, bright at first, dull later. Temp 6 - 7C.

Barnacle Goose, 895 N; Shag, 8 N; Eider, 3 N; Cormorant, 2 N; Red-breasted Merganser, 1 N; Herring Gull, 90 N; Fulmar, 1 N; Razorbill, 2 N; Gannet, 2 S and 8 N; Twite, 4 S.

Totals: 1016 individuals, 10 (+17) species, 2:35 hours

Also present: Greylag Goose 6, Shoveler 4, Wigeon 7, Tufted Duck 11, Eider 36, Long-tailed Duck 21, Red-breasted Merganser 5, Red-throated Diver 1, Great Northern Diver 13, Cormorant 17, Turnstone 80, Purple Sandpiper 25, Black-headed Gull 55, Common Gull 160, Great Black-backed Gull 12, Lesser Black-backed Gull 11, Razorbill 1, Raven 3, Skylark 1, Wheatear 1, Otter 1

Among the species seen at Balranald NR, North Uist (Aird an Runair/Traigh lar) this morning were 13 Greenland White-fronted Geese (flew N over the headland at 09.52 hours), an Iceland Gull that appeared to be kumlieni (not the adult that was seen here yesterday), a Peregrine came over and was then accompanied by a small flock of what appeared to have been Meadow Pipits - all went quite high up) and my first White Wagtails (two) were on the beach.

My first Sand Martin was at Loch nam Feithean later.

Not much has passed Ardivachar Headland recently but a good movement of barnacle geese today. 8 skeins amounting to 640 birds, the largest was 200 birds early this morning.

Barnacle Geese were also on the move over Barra. I saw 4 skeins totalling about 500 birds heading north during the day but no doubt missed others. The wintering flock was still on Borve Point along with the parvipes Canada, but they seemed restless today, at one point flying out towards Grein Head before returning. The juv Iceland Gull was also still around Borve. My first Willow Warblers of the year were singing at Creachan and Glen. There were at least 10 Slavonian Grebes in summer plumage off Eoligarry. The Great Tit was very mobile today, initially seen at Brevig early morning before heading over the hill to Garrygall where it was heard an hour later.
