Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 7th October 2020

Clachan Farm, North Uist
A Reed Warbler, Redstart, Yellow-browed Warbler, Chiffchaff and three Redwing were seen there today

Rubh' Arnal, North Uist
A ****Buff-bellied Pipit**** was seen there this morning - the first record on North Uist. Three Lapland Buntings and a Jack Snipe were also in the area

Langass Lodge, North Uist
A Chiffchaff, Yellow-browed Warbler and a Brambling were seen there today

Carinish, North Uist
1+ Yellow-browed Warblers were there again today

Torlum, Benbecula
Two Yellow-browed Warblers were there. Another two Yellow-browed Warblers and three Bramblings were nearby at Liniclate

Druidibeg Plantation, South Uist
A Pied Flycatcher and 4+ Yellow-browed Warbler were there this afternoon

3+ Yellow-browed Warblers and the Pied Flycatcher were in Askernish Township mid-morning with larger numbers of Chaffinch, Robin, Goldfinch and Greenfinch than usual. The five Pink-feet were still in amongst the Greylags and there were good numbers of Snipe and Skylark on the machair. Yesterday, Whooper Swans were heard passing over dark until 23:00

Still 3 y-b warblers in my garden today, also 2 blackcaps, willow warbler, and spotted flycatcher still with at least 2 brambling.

5-6 y-b warblers, pied fly, 2 blackcaps, chiffchaff, 3 crossbills and 3 bramblings at Druidibeg this morning..

News from Ness

Inclement weather with a F8 NW , and just 3 birds still present in Port of Ness – a Pied Fly, a Yellow-browed Warbler and a female Blackcap.

Distinctly fewer Yellow-browed Warblers today but we still clocked up around 30 birds around the island. There were also 4 Pied Flycatchers, c10 Bramblings and a handful of Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs.
