• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! Always Birding
The 60+ Snow Buntings are still at Peninerine along the strand line while 200+ Twite and a juvenile Glaucous Gull was on Bornish machair this morning. Closer to home, the Coot was still at Eilean nan Ramh, Daliburgh and the Little Egret was found struggling to fly across Loch Hallan in the wind.

OH Bird Recorder
A cold and blustery day in Lewis, not too many birds around though there was a Pied Wagtail at Barvas. The 100+ Golden Plover that had previously been at Shawbost beach have all disappeared leaving only a handful of gulls (Great Black-backed, Herring and Common), 3 Redshanks and a Turnstone.

A single Gannet flew past at Dalmor
