There were 6 Glaucous Gulls this morning south of the parking area overlooking Baleshare beach. On the way there a quick look with the 'scope over the unnamed loch at Illeray revealed 5 Pintail and 3 Shoveler. This loch is some way from the road but often attracts good numbers of wildfowl and is often worth a look. As a matter of interest It is only in the last ten years that Shoveler have taken to wintering on North Uist - previously they were mostly confined to the Benbecula lochs.
