Always Birding
Linnet was a rare breeder here in The Uists but since the turn of the century they have been increasing in numbers and can now be found virtually throughout the year albeit still in small numbers. Therefore to catch and ring a juvenile is unusual, but to have one recovered (caught and released by a ringer) elsewhere is a rare event.
A juvenile Linnet ringed here in Askernish on 2nd August 2017 was caught and released in Mwnt, Ceredigion, Wales on 9th February 2018, 191 days later and a distance of 589 Km (See Map)
It is believed that this is the first ever recovery of a Linnet from The Outer Hebrides
