• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. OH Bird Recorder
Little bit of birthday birding today and walked Orasay to Askernish.

Couple of Glaucous Gulls at Orasay, this one feeding on a dead seal which it was reluctant to move away from.

And this next one which was doing flybys. I think it's the one that's been around for a few months now. It has a tail bar, i've been looking at the photos I took and i'm thinking that the bar in the tail looks like a fault bar, there seems to be a fault bar in the primaries too. Comments would be welcomed on what you think of this idea :)
