Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 4th September 2021. Updated throughout the day

Hirta, St Kilda
A Common Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper and a Garden Warbler were seen there today. The Black Redstart reported as being present yesterday was in fact a Common Redstart.

Gallan Head, Isle of Lewis
15 Storm Petrels passed offshore between 09:00 - 11:00. A Minke Whale was also seen

Rubha Ardvule, South Uist
Counting period: 07:40-10:25
Weather: Wind SE f2, dull, cloud 8/8, temp 14c.

A near 3 hour seawatch this morning produced 10 Red-throated Divers (8S 2N), 4 Great Northern Divers (S), 87 Gannets (78S 9N), 7 Shag (N), 9 Redshank (S), 1 Black-headed Gull (S), 1 Great Skua (S) and 4 Bottle-nosed Dolphins (S)
Also present in the area were Greylag Goose 164, Mallard 24, Tufted Duck 12, Eider 1, White-tailed Eagle 1, Ringed Plover 18, Whimbrel 1, Curlew 2, Bar-tailed Godwit 19, Black-tailed Godwit 1, Turnstone 5, Knot 1, Sanderling 12, Dunlin 15, Merlin 1, Peregrine 1, Raven 1, Pied Wagtail 1, Meadow Pipit 46 and Rock Pipit 1
