• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. How successful are SEO and Harrier this year

Chas

New Member
Hi, I'm visiting Uist next month 2nd week June and would be interested to know how successful SEO and Harrier have been so far?
Has it been a good year for voles and at what stage of breeding will they be early June ?
Things have been slow so far in SW Scotland

Thanks

Hi @Chas both species are monitored locally by the Uist Raptor Study Group though for understandable reasons we don’t usually publish the information about breeding success until later in the year, particularly the Hen Harriers with them being schedule one species.
