On a bright, calm but chill morning, Whooper Swans numbers had increased to 37 at Loch Hallan but they were finding it difficult to find open water. Six Snow Buntings were on the beach at Askernish

At Rubh' Arnal, North Uist this morning the two Iceland Gulls and one Glaucous Gull were again noted, also a couple of Pied Wagtails and five Snow Buntings flew over. At the fish dump there were 13 Corn Buntings with another 25 at nearby Balemore. The population has been in serious decline in the last few years.
