Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 15th October 2022. Updated throughout the day

Hirta, St Kilda
At least 67 Redwing, a Robin and a Fieldfare were on the island today. The 2 Jack Snipe, Lapland Bunting, Slavonian Grebe and Long-tailed Duck were also still present

Eoropie, Isle of Lewis
40+ Snow Buntings were in the dunes by Ness cemetery this morning. 9 Snow Buntings, 1 Arctic Skua, 4 Manx Shearwaters and 35 Redwing were seen nearby at the Butt of Lewis

Bragar, Isle of Lewis
2 Slavonian Grebes and several Long-tailed Ducks were seen offshore today

Lochmaddy, North Uist
Two Long-tailed Skuas and a Pomarine Skua were seen at sea, from the Uig/Lochmaddy ferry. A **Great Shearwater**, an adult Pomarine Skua and 900+ Sooty Shearwaters were seen in The Minch later in the day

Loch Paible, North Uist
The ***Cackling Goose*** was seen there again today

Carinish, North Uist
The Pied Flycatcher was still present there

Benbecula
A Yellow-browed Warbler is in a garden by the Flodda turn

Balgarva, South Uist
2 Grey Phalaropes and an adult Curlew Sandpiper were seen there today. The Great Crested Grebe and a Red-necked Grebe were nearby in North Bay

Loch Bee, South Uist
A drake *Ring-necked Duck* was seen from the south end of the causeway to the east. A Snow Bunting was also in the area. 4 Pink-feet, a Scaup, 7 Black-tailed Godwits, and 23 Whooper Swans were seen later on or around the loch

Barra
3 Yellow-browed Warblers were on the island this morning, one at Bolnabodach, one at Northbay and one at Earsary

Rubha Ardvule, South Uist
Counting period: 08:10-10:35
Weather: Wind WSW veering SW f 3-4. Mix of cloud and especially sunny spells later. Temp 8-9c.

A 2+ hour seawatch this morning produced 6 Eider (2S 4N), 4 Common Scoters (S), 5 Red-throated Divers (S), 3 Great Northern Divers (1S 2N), 34 Gannets (S), 20 Shag (17S 3N), 4 Cormorants (S), 32 Kittiwakes (S), 1 Guillemot (S), 5 Razorbills (S), and 8 auk sp (S).
Also present in the area were Greylag Goose 26, Tufted Duck 9, Red-throated Diver 1, Grey Heron 1, Cormorant 8, Curlew 8, Snipe 23, Hooded Crow 4, Raven 1, Skylark 5, Meadow Pipit 13, Rock Pipit 2, and Twite 15
