• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. Total numbers of skuas I saw moving north off Aird an Runair 09.15-19.15 were 10 Long-tailed' and 7 Pomarines - disappointing really. 3 other Poms & 1 L-tailed were reliably reported to me. Little Stint on the machair with Dunlins, inland from the headland car park

As Tim reports despite several hours of rain this morning and the wind veering from SE to WSW there was no significant skua movement off Aird an Rùnair today.

There may be some movement tomorrow as the SSW wind is forecast to be quite breezy but these winds usually require poor weather conditions (rain and overcast) to produce a good movement.

Agreed Brian. If there is no significant movement tomorrow, and if the weather behaves as the current forecasts would have you believe, we may as well kiss skua passage goodbye for another year :(
