Always Birding
A quick scoot around Loch Bee in the rain after dropping the van off for a service and found 5 Black-tailed Godwits and good numbers of Shoveler with young in the SW corner of Loch Bee. A Sandwich Tern was on the beach at North Bay.

Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 27th June 2023. Updated throughout the day

Loch Stiapabhat, Isle of Lewis
197 Black-tailed Godwits were seen there this afternoon in various sized flocks. The birds rested for around 30 minutes before departing. Autumn migration has begun
Note:- Reports from Iceland suggest a quite poor or at least a late breeding season following a cool dark May, This would explain the unusual number of adult godwits heading south over the last week or so, somewhat earlier than usual
