• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. Eyes and Ears Everywhere
Eoligarry, Barra
The *Rose-coloured Starling* was still present this morning and showing well in its favourite "spiky bush" (New Zealand Flax) by the cemetery car park. There were also at least 5 House Martins hawking insects in fields close by

Probably the most westerly record of breeding Goldcrest in the UK. This brood was photographed by Bruce Taylor in Barra today

At least 20 1st-summer (or 2nd calendar-year on current ageing terminology) Arctic Terns were present in the breeding colony at Aird an Runair this morning. A small increase from my last visit.

Of interest is a remarkable count of 820 of which at least 600 were 2nd calendar-year birds made by John Bowler at Gott Bay on Tiree a couple of days ago.
