Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today, 8th January 2020. Updated throughout the day

Balranald, North Uist
A Fieldfare, Glaucous Gull and circa 100 Snow Buntings were seen there and the drake Pintail was still at Loch a Roe

Knockintorran, North Uist
The Snow Goose was there today. A juvenile Iceland Gull and a juvenile Glaucous Gull were nearby in the Rubh' Arnal / Balemore area

Ruhba Ardvule, South Uist

Weather: Wind WSW veering W f8-9. Mix of sunny periods and showers.Temp 5-6C.

A 2+ hour seawatch this morning produced 6 Eider (S), 4 Long-tailed Ducks (2S 2N), 1 Red-throated Diver (S), 1 Great Northern Diver (S), 10 Gannets (S), 26 Shag (1S 25N), 2 Kittiwakes (S) and 10 Common Gulls (S).
Also present in the area were Wigeon 22, Teal 1, Tufted Duck 6, Red-breasted Merganser 3, Grey Heron 1, Cormorant 31, White-tailed Eagle 1, Bar-tailed Godwit 43, Snipe 1, Redshank 6, Common Gull 80, Great Black-backed Gull 14, Herring Gull 60 and Hooded Crow 5
