A recently published article by BirdGuides explores the history and changing status of this enigmatic Arctic visitor. It highlights the importance of the Outer Hebrides to these birds on their spring migration and states that "along with breeding Corncrakes and – given adequate conditions – incredible skua passage, this revelation means the Hebrides are now a spring centrepiece in British birding".
