Western Isles / Outer Hebrides bird sightings for today 14th March 2023. Updated throughout the day

Butt of Lewis
A 3CY Glaucous Gull, a Snow Bunting, a female Merlin, and 4 *European White-fronted Geese* were seen in the area early morning. The drake *Ring-necked Duck* and *Green-winged Teal* were again on Loch Stiapabhat. Also present in the area were 7 Whooper (1 juv), 8 Snipe, 15 Skylark and 249 Barnacle Geese

Weather: Wind NE F4, mostly sunny, temp 1-2C.

A 3 hour seawatch this morning produced 6 Eider (3S 3N), 2 Red-throated Divers (1S 1N), 35 Gannets (3S 32N) and 9 Shag (2S 7N).
Aslso present in the area were Gadwall 2, Wigeon 96, Pintail 2 [females], Teal 2, Tufted Duck 4, Red-breasted Merganser 1, Ringed Plover 53, Curlew 2, Bar-tailed Godwit 1, Black-tailed Godwit 3, Turnstone 35, Dunlin 22, Purple Sandpiper 37, Redshank 4, Black-headed Gull 22, Little Gull 1 [2CY], Common Gull 45, Great Black-backed Gull 6, Herring Gull 24, Great Northern Diver 1, Cormorant 33, Merlin 1, Hooded Crow 4, Raven 1, Rock Pipit 1, and Twite 13
