• When here in the Outer Hebrides and looking at a bird, have you ever wondered how rare it is? The status of all species can vary enormously from island to island. How rare is Shoveler on Barra, has Stock Dove been seen on Harris, does Dotterel occur on Benbecula in the autumn, and how common is Blue Tit on North Uist? Well, fret no longer! The Status and Distribution of birds here on the Outer Hebrides has been completely updated and summarised for every species and each of the main islands and outliers. 80. Treecreeper

What a fabulous and surprising 80th patch tick for the year! Ringed in the garden. I haven’t seen Treecreeper outwith Stornoway Woods. Definitely Patch Gold!

89. Waxwing - Away for a month visiting family and hoped that there would still be some Waxwings around when we came back, got the apples out straight away and it didn't take long for a Waxwing to find it :)
90. Long-tailed Tit - A first for the garden, a wee flock of 10 late afternoon too quick for me to get a photo :(
91. Brambling - ringed this afternoon

With these species it's feeling like winter!

*Patch Gold is defined by the Patchwork Challenge folks as a bird that is very rare for your patch. This is only the tenth record of Rook for South Uist since 2000.
